How Low Temperature Affects Steel (A106-B) Piping

As stated in a previous post on cold temperatures and equipment, low temperatures have an undesirable affect on ductile steels, making them more brittle. This is a problem in process piping, especially in Canada, with our large differences in summer and winter temperatures. It can however, be resolved by using special cold temperature-rated steels in pipes, but may not always be required.
