A spreader bar (also known as a lifting beam, lifting bar, or spreader beam) is used in the lifting or hoisting process. Objects for lifting vary in size and weight as do the types of cranes doing the hoisting. There are many design considerations when selecting a spreader bar. For example, multiple lifting points may be needed when lifting a flexible object. Selecting a product that is designed and certified by a professional engineer and ASME B30.20 should also be a priority.
